Jason Hood is one of the most decorated athletes in Tosa East history. He earned 10 letters during his high school career. His success was based on incredible speed, agility, and ball control in soccer. Jason not only excelled at soccer, earning three letters and being recognized with All-Conference honors for three consecutive years, but he also demonstrated tremendous leadership skills. He was a two-time Team Captain and MVP, a testament to his inspiring character. Jason also ran cross-country under Coach Joe Vitrano, winning three letters and receiving first-team All-Conference honors. He also run track for Coach Richmond and Coach Erickson, where he earned four letters and qualified for the State Meet in two events, including a 7th place finish in the 800m. The track coaches also recognized his leadership skills, as Jason was awarded MVP honors during two seasons and named Team Captain his senior year.
His crowning achievement came in 1998 when Jason was named Male Athlete of the Year, a testament to his exceptional talent, dedication, and leadership. This award not only recognized Jason’s individual achievements, but also his character and significant contributions to Tosa East athletics. Since graduating, Jason has maintained a strong connection with Tosa East. He returned to serve as Head Track Coach from 2002 to 2006, and Assistant Soccer Coach from 2004 to 2006, ensuring a sense of continuity and connection with the school.
