John Spicuzza

Class of 1953 - Football, Basketball, Track

At a streamlined 190, John Spicuzza cut an imposing figure on the football field, basketball court and track. John was 3 time 1st Team All Conference running back while at Wauwatosa High and was named to the Wigwam Wiseman All American squad as a senior. As a hoopster, John won 3 varsity letters, was 2nd Team All Conference and as Co-Captain captured the 1952 Consolation State Championship. As a weight man in track, John achieved great success in both the shot put and discuss. He set a shot put conference record 1952 with a throw of 51’11”. He went on to be the State Runner up in the shot put and to be State Champion in the discuss in 1952. His achievements across these three sports led to him winning the UNICO Outstanding County Athlete of the Year. After high school, John continued being a high achiever playing AAA baseball for both the San Francisco Giants and Chicago White Sox organizations.
