It did not take Dan Pokwinski long to make an impact at Tosa East. “Poky,” as he was know to friends, earned his first varsity letter as a Freshmen on the track team while setting the Freshman record in the 2 mile. As a Freshman, Dan was a member of the Conference Champion 4 mile relay team. Dan would go on to qualify for the State Meet his Sophmore, Junior and Senior years and helped the team to the 1973 Conference Relay and Outdoor Championships. Dan won 11 varsity letters, 4 in track, 3 in football, 3 in basketball and 1 in baseball. He was named the Tosa East Athlete of the Year his senior year. Dan continued his football and track career at Carroll College earning All-NAIA in 1978 and 1979 as a defensive back.
