The Lynch family has produced some of the finest volleyball players in Wauwatosa history, but none were better than Barb. Barb Lynch was an exceptional all around athlete. As a sophomore, Barb was a sectionals finalist in track. On the basketball court, she was second team All Conference as a sophomore and 1st Team All Conference as a senior. Only an illness prevented her from achieving honors her junior year. But it was the volleyball court where Barb really shined. She was All Conference all four years of high school. She helped lead the team to a Conference Championship and a birth into the State tournament in 1982. In 1983 and 1984, she again led the volleyball squad to Conference Championships, being named MVP of the team in 1984. She had a magical senior year, not only did the team win Conference for the fourth straight year but captured the State Championship as well. Once again, Barb earned MVP honors. Her volleyball success carried over to the UW-Whitewater where Barb earned All Conference and All Region honors in 1987, 1988 and 1989. Her senior year Barb also was named 1st Team All American. Barb led UW-Whitewater to 4 consecutive NCAA DIII Championship tournament births and two WIAC Championships. Barb was inducted into the UW-Whitewater Hall of Fame.
