Pat Brown came from a family of student athletes that excelled in athletics at Wauwatosa East High School. Brown, in his own right, was a tredmous student athlete where he earned numerous accomplishments on the football field and on the track and field team.
As the leader of the football team, Brown played quarterback, where, in his junior year, he led the team to be the North Shore Conference Champions. Iin his senior year, he led the team to their first playoff victory in 1987, defeating New Berlin Eisenhower 35-21. That 1987 team created many football records that Brown was a part of: most wins (9); most total yards (3342); most yards rushing (3000); most points scored (307); most touchdowns (43); and most rushing touchdowns (36).
Brown accumulated several awards his senior year in football, earning North Shore Conference First Team All-Conference, Milwaukee Journal All-Area Second Team, and All-State Honorable Mention. He was also named the team MVP and finished his career as the ninth all-time career yard rusher.
In the springtime, Brown turned his attention to the track and field team. There he was a three-time varsity letter winner competing in the 200 and 400m dash and was a member of three relay teams; 4×100, 4×200, and 4x400m relays. Brown ran with the 4x400m relay that took first place at the 1988 Indoor Conference Meet. His senior year, the team also won the 1988 North Shore Indoor and Relay Conference Championships. In his junior year, he was a sectional finalist in the 400m dash and as a member of the 4x400m relay team. He was also named co-captain his senior year on the track/field team.
His accomplishments as a student athlete and his high character traits earned him the school’s top athletic award as a senior. In 1988, he was awarded the Wauwatosa East Male Athlete of the Year. He earned three varsity letters in football and two in track and field. Brown continued his playing career at St. Norbert College in both football and track and field, earning top honors in both sports.
