Kris Hey was an incredible athlete, earning ten varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, and track over the course of her illustrious career at Tosa East. As a volleyball player, Hey helped lead her team to a sectional runner-up finish and a state championship. She was team captain her senior year and made 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-State. On the basketball court, Hey also served as team captain and helped lead her team to a sectional runner-up finish her junior year and a state championship her senior year, the perfect finish to an undefeated season, the first such achievement by a women’s team. Hey was also the UNICO Outstanding Girl Athlete, 1st Team All-Conference, and 1st Team All-State. As a track athlete, she tied the school record for the high jump of 5’4” and won the conference championship. In addition to her athletic achievements, she was an excellent student and a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, Hey attended Drake University on a volleyball scholarship, where she was selected as the Drake University Most Valuable Player of the Decade for Volleyball.
