Nicknamed “Jet” because of his blazing speed, Rob was a three sport standout known for aggressiveness on the gridiron, tenacious defense on the basketball court, and speed and athleticism on the track. Earning six letters during his career, he was also an outstanding leader who served as a Co-captain of the track squad. While excelling at all sports, it was track where the “Jet” really took flight. Running the hurdles and competing in the broad jump, he received all-conference recognition in both events. As a hurdler, he ended his career with an all-state award while being voted the team MVP. His contributions to Tosa East didn’t end on the sports fields. He was co-editor of the 1963 Cardinal Pennant and an enthusiastic member of the W Club. His outstanding contributions to the Tosa East community resulted in his receiving the prestigious Robert Fischer Award at the end of his senior year. Rob continued his athletic career at the University of Miami where he played on both the Freshman and Varsity football teams.
