Recognition: TEHOF First Chair and Co-Founder, CEO – MKR, Lettered in Football and Basketball

Chris Mortenson, the first and current Chairman of the HOF Executive Committee and one of the co-founders, played a pivotal role in establishing the Tosa East Hall of Fame in 2014, a significant milestone in Wauwatosa East’s history. Following a reunion at Grace Morgan’s Celebration of Life, Mortenson and a group of dedicated individuals, including Joe Vitrano, Pat Brown, Dennis McBride, and Chuck Buesing, convened on June 19, 2014. Their unwavering dedication and passion of gratitude led to the establishment of the Tosa East Hall of Fame, with the inaugural induction ceremony set for May 301h, 2015. Over the next eleven months, Mortenson and the Executive Committee, working alongside Principal Nick Hughes, and meticulously laid the groundwork for the inaugural event. With the support of Mortenson’s marketing firm, MKR, extensive historical research was performed to identify top candidates for consideration from the school’s 100-year history in WIAA sports. MKR also provided communication support, including social media, developed all marketing materials, and created a website and historical video unveiled at the inaugural induction ceremony. The various committees worked tirelessly to complete all event requirements, and on May 30, 2015, some ten years ago, the TEHOF inducted 22 Coaches and 42 Student-Athletes. Since our inaugural reception, which includes the new class of 2025, we have inducted 33 coaches, 101 student-athletes, and three special recognition inductees. These achievements testify to our school’s rich history and commitment to athletic and academic excellence. Mortenson is grateful for this honor and the incredible support he has received in fulfilling this mission, which has made the TEHOF a great success. He looks forward to maintaining the fine traditions established, providing influence and incentives for young athletes to get involved and participate in Tosa East sports so they may experience the incredible lessons and cherished memories so many of us enjoyed during the youth of our lifelong journeys. Chris played varsity football and basketball for Coach Richmond and Coach Rebholz and ran the half-mile in track his sophomore year for Coach Vitrano. His hard work, drive, and passion in making the TEHOF a great success was conceived to thank every coach who prepared us for life’s many challenges through hard work, sacrifice, competition, and giving it your very best whenever you play for The Tosa East Red Raiders.
