Chuck Buesing

Class of 1972 - Football, Basketball & Track

Chuck Buesing was a 6’4” tousle haired all around athlete.   He was a member of the varsity football, basketball, and track teams all three years of his high school career.

His versatility was on full display in the 1971 Suburban Conference Track Relay Championships, where he joined teammates in capturing first place in the high hurdles, high jump, shot put, and discus. He was undefeated in the discus in his senior year winning the Suburban Conference, the Regional, and the Sectional meets. He qualified for the state meet and his 4th place points were instrumental in Wauwatosa East bringing home its first state track championship trophy. Buesing was a member of the 1970 regular season undefeated basketball team which went on to win Regional and Sectional tournaments and compete in the state tournament. Known for his outside shooting and rebounding he was the leading scorer and rebounder his senior year. A 2-year starter at quarterback, he called his own plays in a multiple set pro style offense. Part of a well-disciplined team, and blessed with the trust of his coach, Buesing often called audibles, none more important than his 22-yard quarterback sneak to the 2 yard line to set up the winning touchdown to defeat the state’s 3rd ranked team in 1970. As a senior, he was an important cog in Tosa East’s first Suburban Conference football championship. He graduated as the career and season record holder in passing yards, touchdowns thrown, touchdown to interception ratio and was 3rd in career total yards.
