Dr. Dean Miller spent 20 years as Tosa East’s team doctor for Coach John Richmond’s football squads. He began doing so in 1975, which was well before it was customary to have a physician at high school games. Through all kinds of weather he was a constant, faithfully pacing the sidelines at Hart Park in the fall. He retired in 1994, the same year as Coach Richmond. Doc Miller also answered the call whenever other teams needed medical advice or assistance. He was always more than happy to do what he could. In addition, over the years Doc would gather a few of his colleagues and offer free team physical exams to Red Raider athletes. The athletic programs at Tosa East owe Doc Miller a huge debt of gratitude for his two decades of service to Red Raider coaches and athletes.
