Grace Morgan loved teaching, coaching and mentoring young women athletes. “Coach” Morgan along with Katie Curran Rebholz, were instrumental in the development of the women’s athletic programs in the 1970’s. Over the course of her tenure, she served as head tennis coach, assistant volleyball coach, assistant basketball coach, and assistant track coach. As assistant track coach, Morgan coached two relay teams and a hurdler to state championship titles. As assistant basketball coach, she aided the team in becoming state champions once and conference champions three times. As assistant volleyball coach, Morgan helped lead the team to back-to-back state titles and five consecutive conference titles. And as head coach of the tennis team, Morgan led her girls to back-to-back conference championships. Morgan had a gift for working with young women athletes, setting the foundation with key fundamentals, and then coaching them to the highest levels of their chosen sport. “Coach” Morgan was a role model and inspiration to innumerable young women, inspiring them to become the best that they could be.
