One of the finest all-around athletes to ever attend Tosa East, Jim Devine made his mark across four sports earning a total of 12 varsity letters. In baseball, Jim played 5 years (he played JV as an 8th grader) and earned 3 varsity letters and Most Valuable Pitcher in 1986. On the basketball court, Jim earned 2 varsity letters and won the Conference Championship and a trip to the State Semi-Finals in 1986. On the track, Jim earned 4 varsity letters and helped lead the way to a 1985 Conference Outdoor and Relays Championship. His senior year, Jim was the Indoor Conference Champion in the 440, and a State Finalist in the 400M. In football, Jim was the first freshman to play on varsity during the Richmond era and earned 3 varsity letters. His senior year, he quarterbacked the Red Raiders to the Conference Championship, was All Conference, Conference Player of the Year and All State Honorable Mention. After graduation, Jim earned a scholarship to Northern Michigan where he became an All Conference safety.
