Jim Schuemann

Women's Soccer Coach (1983 - 2006)

In the 24 years Jim Schuemann coached women’s soccer at Tosa East, he achieved unprecedented success, leading the team to outstanding results. Among his many accomplishments, he coached the women’s soccer team to nine conference championships, eight state qualifications, three state runner-up finishes, and three state championships. In addition to his extraordinary success with the women’s soccer team, Schuemann also coached the men’s soccer team from 1979 to 1989. Further, after retiring as head coach of the men’s soccer team, he stayed on as assistant to continue to provide his leadership and guidance, and, in 1990, he helped lead the team to a state championship. Coaching soccer, Schuemann was known as both a student and a teacher of the game, always studying and mastering the fundamentals of the sport. He had a vision of how each game should be played and built a plan for his student-athletes to follow in order to achieve that vision. He knew how to elicit the absolute best from each of his players and inspired the will to succeed in all of them.
