Joe Lynch was an outstanding volleyball player and instilled that same drive for excellence in the girls he mentored as head women’s volleyball coach at Tosa East. Lynch was captain of his volleyball team at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a USVBA men’s player while he was coaching at Tosa East, earning a spot on the 1994 All-Rookie team and All-American honors that season. Concurrently with his personal achievements, Lynch led the women’s volleyball team to great success. Under Lynch, the Red Raiders were conference champions for six straight years, from 1991 to 1996, and again in 1998 and 2000. Lynch also coached the Red Raiders to four runner-up finishes in the state tournament and two state championships. After developing the Tosa East women’s volleyball program into a leader in the state, Lynch moved on to become an assistant coach at Iowa State. He continues to work at Iowa State as a volunteer coach specializing in defensive training.
