Joe Zuba was a phenomenal and incredibly versatile athlete at Tosa East, excelling at football, basketball, and track. Football coach John Richmond referred to Zuba as the most prolific 5’10”, 155-pound quarterback he ever had the privilege to coach. Zuba was not only a prolific quarterback—he was also a formidable defensive back and was selected for All-Conference at both positions. Additionally, he was selected for 2nd Team All-State as a defensive back. Zuba led his football team to the 1975 conference championship and was the team’s Most Valuable Player two years in a row. At the time of this induction, he ranks 4th in total passing yards (2,755 with 28 touchdowns) and 4th in total offensive yards (3,217). Zuba was also talented on the basketball court and ranks 8th for field goals made in a single season (153) and 11th for points scored in a single game (32). In addition, he was a talented member of the track team as a sprinter and long jumper, and he helped lead his team to a conference championship. Following graduation, Zuba went on to play football for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
