Karolyn Wanat was an incredible athlete at Tosa East, earning 11 letters in three different sports—volleyball, basketball, and softball. As part of the volleyball team, Wanat played on varsity all four years and helped lead her team to four conference championships, two state runner-up finishes, and two state titles. She served as the team’s co-captain, made 1st Team All-Conference, and was voted Most Valuable Player her junior and senior years. Wanat also received an All-Conference honorable mention her sophomore year, made 2nd Team All-State her junior year, and 1st Team All-State her senior year. On the basketball court, Wanat helped lead her team to four conference titles and one regional title. She also served as a team co-captain as a junior and senior and made 2nd Team All-Conference three years in a row. As a softball player, Wanat played on varsity for three years, served as a co-captain, and helped advance her team to sectional finals. Wanat won countless awards for her talent both as an athlete and as a student, including the WIAA Scholar Athlete Award, Vescolani Sportsmanship Award, WH Brady Academic All-Star recognition, Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete recognition, American Legion Americanism Award, Red Arrow Scholarship, Wisconsin All-State Scholar recognition, plus was a member of the National Honor Society and was valedictorian. After graduation, Wanat went to Florida Tech on an academic and athletic scholarship where she played volleyball and graduated summa cum laude.
