Katie Curran Rebholz was not only an incredibly successful coach, but, along with fellow Hall of Famer Grace Morgan, a pioneer of women’s athletics at Tosa East. She was the first women’s tennis, track, basketball, and volleyball coach. Her teams had an incredible record of 302 victories and 47 losses. Rebholz’s volleyball teams won back-to-back state championships and five consecutive conference championships. Her basketball teams won three conference championships as well as a state championship in 1981, which was the culmination of an undefeated season and for which Rebholz was honored with the Coach of the Year Award. Rebholz went beyond teaching her student-athletes how to excel in their chosen sports; she instilled in them a work ethic and positive lifestyle that would serve them for the rest of their lives. Rebholz made great contributions to both the lives of all of the young women she coached and to women’s athletics in Wauwatosa and around the state of Wisconsin. For her achievements and contributions to women’s basketball, she was inducted into the WBCA Hall of Fame in 2003.
