Over the course of her impressive career as head women’s basketball coach, Linda Kulka Vitrano led her team to five conference titles, four of them back-to-back. She loved coaching and mentoring young women and teaching what it meant to be part of a team. Her primary focus as a coach was helping a team to bond, believing if a team could bond and work together they would win. Results proved her theory worked. The first team she coached, the freshman women’s team, was just a group of young girls without experience who did not know each other well. By seasons end they were playing as a team and winning most of their games. Vitrano loved developing teams like that first group of freshman. Her favorite thing to do was come in as the underdog and win. She instilled in her players the belief they could do anything if they worked hard and pulled together.
