Coach Bedker made his mark on Wauwatosa’s boys golf program in the latter part of his teaching career at Wauwatosa High School.
He was the head coach from 1943 to 1955 and his teams won both the sectional and state championships in 1946 and 1954. His 1954 state championship team went 17-3 in dual meets, taking second at the Hartford Invitational and fifth at the Suburban Golf Meet.
Coach Bedker also led teams to the Suburban Conference championships in 1945, 1946, 1949, and 1950. His teams were also state runners-up three times: 1945, 1949, and 1950.
While at Wauwatosa, Coach Bedker taught Mechanical Drawing, which was under the Practical/Manual Arts Department. He attended UW-Oshkosh, and earned a BS in the Industrial Program. He served in WWI and signed up in 1918 (draft card) and in WWII from 1942-1946 where he was a second lieutenant with the general service unit, 4th reserve district.
