Thomas Duffy was head coach of the Wauwatosa Red Raiders from 1940 to 1955 except for a *three-year absence in the early ’40s to serve his country in World War II. Duffy was a gifted coach and mathematics teacher who led his student-athletes to great success and taught his students invaluable skills in the classroom. Under Duffy, the Wauwatosa cross country team won consecutive championships from 1946 to 1949 and again in 1953 and 1954. The team was also state champion in 1946, back-to-back in 1953 and 1954, and runners-up in 1948 and 1949. Duffy also coached several individual and relay state champions. For his achievements with Wauwatosa High School, Duffy was inducted into the WCCCA Hall of Fame in 1999.
