Tom Swittel’s name was synonymous with Red Raiders football during his time as head football coach at Tosa East. He led his teams to a record that still stands as the 2nd most wins in school history. Swittel also led his teams to an astounding nine playoff appearances, and his 1995 team went undefeated and won the 1st outright conference championship in Tosa East history. While serving as head coach, Swittel was also involved with Red Raiders youth athletics, founding and serving as president of the Wauwatosa East Jr. Raider Football Organization. He was recognized with various Coach of the Year awards, including Woodland Conference Coach of the Year (1995), Greater Metro Conference Coach of the Year (2003), CNI Newspapers High Honorable Mention Coach of the Year (2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005), CNI Newspapers Coach of the Year (2007), WFCA District Coach of the Year (2003), and WFCA South All Star Head Coach (2007). Swittel was inducted into the WFCA Hall of Fame for his achievements in 2009.
