Wayne Pollnow

Wayne Pollnow coached an amazing 38 total seasons at Tosa East. His voice was unmistakable to those athletes who had the priviledge of competing for him. Wayne assisted the wresting team from 1974-80 before taking over head coaching duties from 1981-86. As an assistant football coach from 1974-88, Wayne helped the football squad win conference titles in 1984 and 1986 and pushed the squad hard, even running sprints with the teams. Wayne served 10 years as an assistant boys track coach in charge of the pole vaulters. In this capacity, the boys won conference indoor and relay titles in 1988 and ’89. The pole vaulters achieved great success under his tuteledge. Wayne coached 7 thirteen foot pole vaulters, including Chris Holmes, who won the State title in 1988.
