Hans Schink, a remarkably versatile athlete standing at 6’4″ and demonstrating exceptional endurance, was a standout figure at Wauwatosa High. His ability to excel in a variety of sports, earning nine letters, is a testament to his extraordinary range of skills. As a key member of Tom Duffy’s 1949 Conference Championship and State Runner-up  Cross Country team, Hans Schink’s determination led to the pinnacle of success. His victory in the State Championship in 1949 was a testament to his unwavering resolve. Hans also ran for Tom Duffy’s track team, winning the suburban conference championship for distance and qualifying for state competition. His partnership with TEHOF inductee, Bruno Mauer, was legendary, earning them the moniker ‘the one-two punch’ for their consistent first and second-place finishes in the distance events. When Hans wasn’t running for championships, he was also a successful distance swimmer, participating on the 1948 Conference championship and State runner-up team. Finally, Hans leveraged his height by playing volleyball during his senior year, where he also excelled.
